Breathing Space 2021

Acrylic on Canvas

150 x 100cm

This work is inspired by documentaries on the ABC and SBS networks focusing on the myriad of intense and chaotic circumstances happening around the globe. It is not only about those most vulnerable but also for the incredible dedicated people that advocate for others.

Breathing Space is just that, one which I wish for all of us and especially those that need it most. From this perspective the atmosphere is calm, the air is clear and the awe and beauty of earth can be appreciated.

Artist Statement

Intermediaries are the critical link needed to not only protect the human rights of vulnerable witnesses, but vulnerable defendants with (often previously undiagnosed) mental health disorders, cognitive impairment and/or complex communication needs. Without intermediary support fostering reliable communication through a stressful judicial process, a devastating wrongful conviction may result.
