Grazing Shibazhi Hills 2007

This painting was part of a series inspired by partaking in a volunteer project to the isolated Tibetan villages in the Songpan region in China. The project was investigating the potential for establishing ecotourism in these sensitive mountainous areas. As part of the project, a 2 day horse trek was undertaken through steep wilderness areas. The skill and wisdom of the local horsemen was awe inspiring. In the evening a campfire was established and the horses free grazed on the side of a steep mountain.
